An Introduction

[dropcap]I’m[/dropcap] sure you have been keeping up to date with A. T. Baron’s blog. Well, I thought I would join in, to keep you abreast of the goings on in the Big Wood. But first let me introduce myself. I am Mrs. Otter. I live in the Big Wood and am a close friend to Effie, the squirrel. In case you don’t know who Effie is, you should read the book A Tale of Two Squirrels. In this story she has to find out if a storm is coming and comes to me for information. She also meets another young squirrel that she likes, but that is not important right now.

I have a quaint den, by the stream, that I share with my husband and three sons. Mr. Otter is very handsome and caring. He is a great provider and enjoys fishing. I spend most of my time caring for the boys and cleaning the den. Three boys can make a shambles of any place in a very short time. The Big Wood is just that, big. There are many animals that reside there and we try to keep in touch. There are predators that we have to watch out for, and we benefit from communicating with each other.

The birds are usually the first to hear of news. I keep up with the information by talking with Eleanor, the crane. She visits our family often and though she has a tendency to gossip, she usually has the most information. She told me about this website and all about blogging. I hope to find enough time to share all of the stories of our home. My boys are always up to something, and it makes for entertaining chit-chat.
