This was my illustration for the Jan/Feb 2025 edition of the National Science Teacher’s Association’s journal, Science and Children. I created the illustration to accompany Susan Blackaby’s “Scientific Inquiry” poem in the “The Poetry of Science” column.
Writer and biochemist Issac Asimov said, “The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not ‘Eureka!’ but ‘That’s funny…’” From hypothesis to observations to collecting data and writing results, science is about discovering and answering why. And science can be fun. When I read Susan’s poem, I wanted my illustration to show that fun.
The issue did not include the poetry column, so my illustration wasn’t officially published.
