Seven Years and Still Humming
Today my site and my career turn seven. It seems like only yesterday I purchased my domain name and started designing a site to show of my works. All the downloading and uploading, installing and tweaking, and here it is. Since the internet is an ever-evolving creature, I constantly update my content, but it is more than that. I chose a career path seven years ago and never looked back.
My writing and illustration career started from the musings of my journal entries. I never expected them to take me on a ride to self-publishing, yet here I am. I joke that when I’m not busy enlisting critters to help me take over the world –insert maniacal laugh here, I’m formulating stories and recreating nature’s marvels in various media. I don’t consider it work; it’s more of a release.
This past year has brought many new changes.
- I collaborated with local author, Sandy Barton, on her children’s book, The Tree. We hope to release the book later this year and will feature my watercolor illustrations of hopeful animals waiting for a Christmas surprise. Examples of my work will appear in the coming weeks.
- The Buffalo Small Press Book Fair has given me a fantastic opportunity to market my work and connect with other local authors. I will be signing copies of A Tale of Two Squirrels (2013), so check out my upcoming events for more information.
- I have made great strides in my current YA fiction, The Ruby’s Cell. With luck, I hope to finish the book soon. After a thorough editing job, I plan to offer opportunities for readers to get a sneak peek in exchange for reviews.
All in all, I have truly enjoyed these last seven years and hope that the ride doesn’t stop anytime soon.
