Fortune Cookie Friday: At the End of the Day
The first thing I thought of, when I read this fortune was John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address and his quote, “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” It sounded similar to it, so I went and read the full address. I realized that it applied more to the final quote, “With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.”
You get what you make of it; if we venture out into the world with the hope, and try to make it a better place, we can lay our heads on our pillows at night and know we did our best.
