Fortune Cookie Friday – Affirmations from a Cookie
Today’s fortune probably sounds familiar to many. Much like the quote, “What others think of you is none of your business,” it sets out to reassure you to feel positive about yourself. It also resembles something you would hear Deepak Chopra say at a new age forum, and it still rings true.
Now I cannot help but think back to Saturday Night Live’s “Daily Affirmation with Stuart Smalley.” Actor and comedian, Al Franken (yes, he is currently a United States Senator from Minnesota) plays the character of Stuart Smalley and discusses how we should be more accepting of ourselves, of course with a whole lot of humor, especially when he starts to doubt himself. You can view one of his excerpts below (requires flash to play) or click this link:
The day I cracked this fortune open from its cookie casket, I did not feel sad or insecure, but I am sure I thought about not eating the cookie, since I didn’t need the extra calories. The written word did give me a boost though, and I am grateful for that. This fortune reminds you that you have to be happy with yourself, because you’re good enough, you’re smart enough, and doggone it, people like you!
