Happy Fortune Cookie Day
I can’t believe it. How could I not have known about this? I have been writing Fortune Cookie Friday posts for over a year and I didn’t know there was a special day for Fortune Cookies. According to Google®, it’s on September 13. I read some conflicting reports that it was also on July 20, but there were only a few. The majority still leans to the September date, which is a good thing, because then I didn’t miss it.
So, what do you do on Fortune Cookie Day? Really? Do I really have to explain this to you? You eat fortune cookies—lots and lots of fortune cookies. No, you really don’t have to eat that many, but you could celebrate by ordering some Chinese food from your favorite eatery, and let the suspense build until you get to dessert. Then, when you’ve stuffed yourself full of Szechuan beef and steamed dumplings, you can unwrap that tiny cookie and savor your fortune.
If you are watching your calorie intake, and want a fortune sans cookie, you can search online for Virtual Fortune Cookies. Since the cookie is only 107 calories, perhaps you could splurge this once. On the other hand, you could let me do all the weight gaining and just read my weekly posts.
Most fortunes are good conversation starters. Many fortunes have Chinese words on the flip side, along with some “lucky” numbers. Some people even like making them sound funny by adding the words “in bed” at the end of their fortune. I like pondering on the deeper meaning of the fortune, and how it may pertains to my life. Then, I write about it.
Consider getting a cookie today, and see what your future holds.
